Electronic Music Goes East: Point Blank China is Opening in 2019

The experience of teaching creative music production at the highest level for over two decades has enabled Point Blank Music School to refine its teaching methods, high-end facilities and career opportunities to the point where our students have rewarded us by voting Point Blank the ‘Best Independent University’ at the 2018 WhatUni Awards and by scoring it 91% for overall student satisfaction in the NSS National Student Survey 2018, with places us in the top 8 higher education institutions in the UK.

With schools open in Los Angeles, Ibiza and Mumbai and a hugely active online school which caters to students worldwide, the Point Blank team has now turned its attention to China.

Point Blank China will be based on the top floor of a building overlooking the The Roof Gardens and the historic 2016 G20 Summit building.

In one of our most audacious adventures yet, we are taking our specialist brand of dance music education to the Far East, through an exciting and strategic new partnership in China. Our newest school will be based in Huang Zhao, the creative capital of China, which is one hour’s ride on the bullet train from Shanghai. We are scheduled to open the doors to the exciting new facility in the summer of 2019.

Hooking up with giant Chinese internet company NetEase via its dedicated music subsidiary Fever, Point Blank has found a more than capable partner with an equal passion for spreading the electronic music message from as far and wide as Burning Man, Ibiza and throughout Asia. Point Blank’s CEO Rob Cowan’s had this to say about the brand new partnership:

“We are thrilled to partner with Netease and Fever to open the first electronic music school of its kind in China. We are looking forward to training the next generation of Chinese artists and opening the doors to their success in China and on a global scale”.

Our aim is to bring the music industry specialist education that Point Blank is known for to a passionate audience in China, who have been discovering a new kind of music for themselves in recent years. With a burgeoning interest in EDM, pop and DJing, together with hundreds of clubs springing up across the nation, Point Blank China aims to illustrate a wide variety of music styles to its students with the goal of engendering a new generation of Chinese superstar music producer/DJs. Fever, with its audience in the hundreds of millions and employees numbering 100,000, has the reach, resource and wherewithal to make this happen.

Point Blank’s first focus will be to deliver a specially formatted and comprehensive year-long Music Production & Sound Engineering Diploma which includes the following subject areas: music production, DJ skills, music composition, sound design, sound engineering, the art of mixing, audio for games, mastering and more. Thereafter, the school’s intention is to deliver its BA (Hons) Music Production & Sound Engineering degree at the Point Blank China site. Chinese students will get a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the UK’s most revered dance music education brand.

The School is situated next to the Hangzou International Exhibition Centre, hosts of the G20 Summit, and can be accessed through the stunning Roof Gardens park.

Point Blank has always prided itself on being innovative, edgy and adventurous – just like the music it promotes and teaches. If you want to become a music production expert in Point Blank newest school in China next year, contact admissions@pointblankmusicschool.com for more details, or give us a call on +44 020 7729 4884.
