Music industry vet Tony Guanci, along with a team of experienced A&R, touring, live events professionals have launched artist development focused Edgeout Records distributed by Universal Music Group.
Edgeout is focused on discovering, vetting and signing young radio-friendly artists, and assist them in developing a fanbase through recorded music as well as touring and festivals across the U.S. and internationally. The label will provide collaborative support on all aspects of a new artist’s career, including their overall sound, song structure, live stage performance, image/branding, as well as personal and business management.
“More than any other genre of music, successful rock bands have historically built their fanbase through touring and live performances. At Edgeout, I plan to use my 30 years of experience and connections in touring and promotion to ensure our artists have access to the most coveted tours and festivals, which will allow them to organically reach new audiences and promote their latest tracks,” said Tony Guanci in a statement announcing the label’s launch.
As a part of their development effort, Edgeout will hold Studio Edge Sessions in Los Angeles. The Edge Sessions will take place in three full two-day sessions over the course of 6 months. At the end of each session, bands/artists will leave LA with various goals and project deadlines they must achieve.
In order to be eligible to participate in a studio session, a band or artist must be referred by a third party (managers, agents, lawyers, industry leaders, music executives). Chosen bands will be offered exercisable recording contracts prior to the session start date. At the completion of the program, Edgeout will evaluate each band/artist’s progress and determine the agreement.
Edgeout has signed an exclusive label services agreement with Universal Music Group that will allow Edgeout to work with UMG’s labels to help develop their artists internationally.
Edgeout’s team includes Cheryl Benson-Guanci, who will serve as the label’s Head of Artist Development, Oak View Group Co-Chairman Peter Luukko, and label vets Colin Phillips and Eli Lande.
