Drake’s ‘Views’ album sales and streams surge…
Drake’s One Dance track on his latest album Views has out-streamed Adele’s global hit record Hello in the UK.
Last week alone One Dance, which features Wizkid and Kyla was streamed over 7.86 million times, beating the previous record holder Adele, whose song Hello gained 7.32 million streams in the first week. This is an amazing accomplishment for any artist to hit, and knocking Adele off the top spot is a major feat in itself.
But, the good news for Drake doesn’t stop there. Beyond streaming, Drake has also seen his album sales surge. According to Buzz Angle Music, Drake’s Views album tops 820K in the US and Canada in just 2 days (April 29th -April 30th), which already surpasses Beyonce’s Lemonade full-week numbers.
It has now been estimated that Drake’s ‘Views’ album sales will surpass over 1 million in the United States by the end of its first week.
The fact that the album is an Apple Music exclusive for one week highlights just how impressive this achievement is. The album currently cannot be streamed on any other streaming service, but is available to download on iTunes – some say this is the reason why album sales are so high.
