DJ Snips Masterclass – A Path to Independence (6th July 19:30 BST)

On 6th July at 19:30 BST we are hosting a special live Point Blank Masterclass: DJ Snips Masterclass – A Path to Independence.

DJ Snips is a professional DJ/Producer who has been in the game for 20+ years. His career started in London, running a successful hip-hop night which he now delivers in his new place of residence, New York City. Since its inception, the night has featured performances from the likes of ASAP Rocky, Schoolboy Q, Giggs and more and continues to pull in heads from all across the hip-hop scene. As well as running events and touring the world as a DJ, DJ Snips has produced records for legendary artists on both sides of the Atlantic, including UK rappers Giggs, SAS and Sway; and US Rappers Skyzoo, Sean Price and Wu-Tang Clan’s Cappadonna. DJ Snips recently unleashed his own record label, Barbershop Records, where he releases instrumental music that covers an array of genres.

The aim of this event is to give attendees an understanding of exactly how to navigate the industry outside of the mainstream. Often we’re shown a very clear cut idea of what success in music looks like when the reality is that model works for less than 1% of artists. DJ Snips plans on giving insight into his journey and career path, how he has developed a sustainable career and how he hasn’t been forced to compromise his ideals or principles. In today’s climate, we have the tools to bypass major labels and connect fans directly to artists. The key to doing this is understanding your own brand and identifying who that resonates with.
