Top 3 Ableton Tutorials

This year has been pretty special in terms of Ableton tutorials. Amongst our extensive deconstructions and beat-building masterclasses in a variety of DAWs, we’ve had a heavy focus on Ableton Live 10.  We traveled to ADE and saw how techno legend, Tom Hades, creates his kinetic dancefloor shakers, Monstercat’s Gammer schooled us on how he made his epic anthem, ‘The Drop’ and more. Below see our Ableton Live highlights from 2018 and stay tuned for more tutorials next year.

In addition to our intense courses in Ableton Live, we also teach Logic Pro and upload regular tutorials to our YouTube channel. If you want to learn how these things work, be it in LondonLos AngelesIbizaMumbai or online check out our courses and see which one suits you best.

How to Make Techno with Tom Hades at ADE 2018

This year we traveled to ADE and hooked up with Tom Hades for a special techno masterclass. Our session with Tom was everything we could have hoped for and saw the techno legend build a track from the ground up. This video gave us a real insight into how he works in the studio, his workflow methods, go-to plugins and the techniques he uses that create the songs that keep us coming back for more.

Gammer Masterclass – The Drop Deconstruction

Gammer’s track ‘The Drop’ is an epic onslaught of arps, horns, gut-shaking bass roars and drums that will kick a hole in your chest. Earlier this year we sat down with the Monstercat producer to see just how he made a track of this magnitude. He broke down the beat, showing us exactly what’s what including his use of a nostalgic Zelda: Ocarina of Time sample, how he layers sounds and more. Re-live the magic above then go and listen to the original again and again and again.

Turn any Sound into an Instrument with Simpler (Ableton Live 10)

In this quick tutorial our resident Ableton genius (and Certified Ableton Trainer) Thomas Glendenning shows you how to turn any sound into an instrument with the DAWs Simpler. This basic tool is a must know for any producer and means you’ll be able to start making weird and wonderful instruments from just about any sounds you can get your hands on. Demonstrated in the video, using the length, loop and fade functions, Glendenning creates a synth from a single cowbell hit. Happy sampling!
