ReverbNation Acquires Audiokite Fan Feedback Platform

ReverbNationArtist services platform ReverbNation is thriving standing while others have disappeared, in part because it consistently innovates, and central to their mission has always been bringing artists closer to their fans. So today’s acquisition of fan feedback platform AudioKite continues both traditions.

ReverbNation has acquired AudioKite for an undisclosed sum. Audiokite’s platform enables musicians to have their songs music privately reviewed by ardent music fans.

Audiokite has been integrated into ReverbNation’s existing Crowd Review product.

Built in 2014 by Alex Jae Mitchell and Dave Marcello, Audiokite relies on 10,000 vetted reviewers – music superfans in the U.S.  – who have answered over 500,000 surveys for thousands of musicians and labels. The two founders will join ReverbNation team. “Dave and I quickly realized that our vision of how to best leverage the wisdom of crowds was totally aligned with ReverbNation’s,” said Mitchell, “and we’re looking forward to executing against this shared vision for the benefit of artists and industry alike.”

“Artists love getting feedback from music fans on their work, and now that Crowd Review is being powered by Audiokite, we expect the product to continue to grow,” said Simon Perry, Chief Creative Officer and Head of A&R at ReverbNation.  “Simultaneously, we look forward to engaging the millions of fans who come to ReverbNation.com each month to provide feedback for our artists.”

ReverbNation CEO, Michael Doernberg added, “Alex and Dave have built a fantastic product, and their commitment to building innovative and forward-thinking products fits perfectly within our culture. This acquisition goes far beyond simply offering a better crowdsourcing product, we also expect the addition of Audiokite to elevate our industry offerings to record labels, music festivals, synch opportunities, and brands.”

Since its founding in 2006, ReverbNation has served more than 4 million independent artists, providing tools that help grow and monetize their audience. With the introduction of its Artist Development group and a large community of emerging talent, ReverbNation is positioning itself to play a pivotal role in the development of the next generation of successful artists.
