fabric & Point Blank Present Level Up: Supporting Women in Music

Earlier this year we teamed up with legendary London club fabric, as well as the Mayor of London and #SoundsLikeLondon, to bring Level Up: A Night to Support Women In Music. We know that music production has a reputation as a boys club and this is part of our ongoing commitment to trying to negate that and make more women feel comfortable and excited to enter the industry. Take a look at the video below for a taste of what went down on the night, which was attended by a number of female Point Blank students and alumni. Remember you can study everything examined at Level Up with us, take a look at our full list of London courses here, from music production, music business, sound design and much more.

On the night there was will be a listening and feedback session on the mighty room one system by Martin Audio, held by Nick Halkes, founder of XL Recordings and manager of The Prodigy, Bad Company UK, Stanton Warriors and One Bit. We’ve got to know Nick recently through his fantastic masterclass he gave here at Point Blank recently, and we can say with some confidence that he is one of the most genuinely enthusiastic and knowledgeable music people we have ever met, take a look at the most recent part of that masterclass below.

There was also a modular synthesis workshop with London Modular Alliance, London’s premiere modular shop in Hackney Wick. The trio operates as a live act as well, bringing modular wizardry to stages across London and beyond.

Feeling inspired? Why not check out some of our degree programmes. We’ve just launched the BA (Hons) in Music Production and DJ Practice, and the BA (Hons) in Music Industry Management, to go with our original BA (Hons) in Music Production and Sound Engineering, which includes modules in both Maschine and Modular Synthesis. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
