It’s been a busy year for our students here at Point Blank Music School. As well as learning the ins and outs of Music Production and Djing, they get to showcase their skills on the decks. Whether it’s entering the many competitions available to them or playing at one of our partner events our students get the chance to show us what inspires them. It was a tough decision to make, but we’ve managed to narrow down our favourite student mixes from the past year. From dreamy soundscapes which evolve over time to heavy techno loops with discombobulating acidic basslines, these are the top 3 student mixes of the year.
Hollie: Live DJ Set from Hollie: Point Blank x DJ Mag @ Work Bar
We were treated to an extra special set from the talented Hollie at our Point Blank x DJ Mag Workbar event. Her mix comprised a techno-heavy selection of forward-thinking tracks which peak and trough throughout. Deep basses and tight percussion are in full swing here as synths glide back and forth. As well as setting up her own events and music platform, Atone Recordings, she has her own radio show one Noods Radio every fourth Friday of the month.
Paradoks: Deep House Amsterdam
Paradoks’ Deep House Amsterdam mix will take you on an evolving and euphoric journey. Coming in at just over one hour the mix sees the 22-year-old PB DJ blend a fusion of steady house beats with melodic arps that spiral across woozy soundscapes. The Belgium-born DJ has since signed to Parquet Recordings and is currently touring the world as a professional DJ.
DODX: Point Blank x Magnetic Mag Mix
Brazilian Producer, DJ and musician DODX created a mix as part of our monthly mix series with Magnetic Mag earlier this year – and it’s a belter. The track selection includes heavy hitters from the likes of Victor Ruiz, Wyatt Marshall and Jay Lumen and is packed with futuristic vibes. DODX bulked up his skills on the Mixing & Mastering Award after spending some time playing the club circuit in Sao Paolo.
