Masterclass: Techno Production Tips with GNTN at ADE 2019

Whilst at ADE last year, we joined the techno duo GNTN for an exclusive masterclass packed with techno tips. Specifically, the duo demonstrates creative ways you can slice audio to MIDI in Ableton Live and make your own shakers, hi-hats and FX using organic sounds, vocal samples and more. If you’d like to learn more about chopping, slicing and sampling, be sure to check out our online courses. Plus, get 25% off selected online courses before our offer ends on 18th May with code: ONLINE25.

GNTN, the DJ/production outfit from Germany, have released music on influential imprints such as Filth On Acid and Stil Vor Talent. They’re championed for their complex melodies, warm basslines and hypnotizing mixes – a sound which has landed them gigs at Egg London and festivals such as Parookaville and Sonne Mond Sterne.

During the video, the pair demonstrate three essential techniques: how to create a simple and effective shaker which you can have complete control over, how to create an interesting hi-hat using organic sound from nature and lastly, how to create tension-filled build-ups using vocal samples. The processes demonstrated in the video have limitless opportunities for experimentation and are perfect for creating your own signature sounds.

Feeling inspired? Load up your DAW and get stuck into some music. Need some help with anything production-based? Check out our online courses which feature exclusive 1-2-1s, masterclasses, production tutorials, career opportunities, feedback sessions and more.
Remember, get 25% off selected online courses before 27th April with code: ONLINE25.
